In 1981 my parents bought me a Suzuki Omnichord (it was the original model, OM-27). They got it for me because I loved music, but didn’t play an instrument - and this was supposed to be something you could play without any training.

I never got into it. Its sound was very early 80s synth sounding, and not my thing at all (I wanted to learn to play guitar). I put it in my closet and forgot about it. Last summer, I found it, still in its original box - in storage. THAT was a surprise because I can’t remember the last time I saw it before that day!

I brought it home, and looked up Omnichord videos on YouTube (with no batteries, or an adapter, I couldn’t turn it on and also couldn’t remember what it sounded like). All of the videos were VERY feminized young girls singing very young girl music. (Oh so falsely sensitive lyrics, sung in similarly plaintive young girl voices - definitely NOT my style)

So I got an adapter, plugged it in: and this is what came out. I started working on it last September, and have been working on it on and off ever since.

Its vibe reminds me of Dick Dale or Link Wray. It was originally going to be called something else - but that vibe convinced me to change its title to “Rumble In Hollywood.”

It’s a rumble baby.
