Baby born size of an apple defies odds to survive

Baby Saybie was given just hours to live when she was born weighing just 245g (8.6oz) in San Diego.

The obvious thought that this ought to provoke is, why would this little baby not have been considered a baby by some just because she remained in her mother’s womb?
