Test scores drop nationwide as technology advances in the classroom

SDSU psychology professor Jean Twenge joins 'America's Reports' to discuss dropping test scores nationwide amid technological advancements such as school-issued laptops, and the drawbacks they bring.

I won't dismiss that screens are overused in schools and by kids, however, this professor is doing something we have seen become pervasive: finding something that fits their narrative and blaming it.

She says that test scores started dropping in 2012 "right as smart phones became popular but it is also the same time when many school districts began to give devices to every student." While that may be partially true, smart phones were out in 2007, but what DID start in 2012 was most of the states implemented Common Core. We now know how bad Common Core is as a teaching method, so I would assert that is more responsible for the test score decline than the screens.
