Eugene A. Cernan, the last astronaut to leave his footprints on the surface of the moon, has died, NASA said Monday.

It is shame that we couldn't get back to the moon in time for Cernan to see it. It's a travesty that America has essentially abandoned its manned space program. I said this about John Glenn too, but the country doesn't seem to produce guys like Gene Cernan as much anymore.
