The Gat Brothers - The Sound Of Silence
m.youtube.comמופע התנדבות - מתוך המשדר "לתת" - ערב ראש השנה התשע"ה
I love music. I have since I was a child. This song has always resonated with me, although I’ve never been sure why. This version of song makes that reaction much clearer to me. These two Hasids bring out something even more emotional in it. It has something to do with the timelessness of Judaism, the eternal nature of the message that the secular world is empty, and that without G-d, you have nothing. It’s the message of the prophets referred to here. Normally, I wouldn’t ascribe such grandiosity to a (mostly) secular song. But I know that these two brothers know exactly what I’m talking about/

amp.cnn.comActor Roger E. Mosley, best known for his role as the helicopter pilot Theodore "TC" Calvin on the 1980s hit show "Magnum, P.I.," died Sunday, his daughter announced. He was 83.
I was a HUGE “Magnum p.i.” Guy growing up. “T.C.” was always my second favorite character after Magnum himself. Roger E. Mosley always seemed like a good guy too. Sad news for anyone who grew up watching the show.

The 50 Best Western Movies Ever Made
vulture.comThe history of movie Westerns more or less begins with the end of the Old West itself. We run down the 50 best examples of the genre, from The Searchers to True Grit and beyond.
Full disclosure: this list is in Vulture, which I don't really like, and doesn't include a single Western with Kirk Douglas or Audie Murphy, so it is suspect. But it's a goo starter list for people who don't know anything about Westerns.

When Concorde did a barrel roll: A history of the Airport films
cnet.comAs you social distance at home, remember that the '70s era was the golden age of the blockbuster disaster flick, and the Airport movies were the best of them all.
I saw “Airport ‘77” and “The Concorde... Airport '79” in the theater when they came out. I just rewatched both and the pure 70sness of these films is totally amazing. They are so much fun to watch. “Airport ‘77” has Jimmy Stewart, and Olivia de Havilland, and the costumes were designed by Edith Head. It’s crazy to me that I am old enough to have seen a film in the theater with their involvement.

Karine Jean-Pierre Hates Israel
nationalreview.comThough new White House press secretary Jean-Pierre doesn’t openly contend that Israel shouldn’t exist, her regurgitation of BDS talking points says just as much.
The Democrats have an antisemitism problem. So the fact that this woman is an antisemite (he Israel hatred is not mere criticism of policy-it is pathological) and the democrats have embraced her, and utterly failed to criticize her, is proof. There is antisemitism on both sides-but only one side routinely ignores and ELEVATES its antisemites.

The Vanishing World of Neon Motel Signs - Atlas Obscura
atlasobscura.comA photographer has spent decades capturing these symbols of Americana and the open road.
I love these old signs. Many years ago, before everyone had a camera on their phone, I wanted to put together a coffee table book about old neon signs. That was in the '90s. It is very sad to watch the rapidity with which these signs are disappearing. It was/is an endemic part of Americana. Worse, their replacements are the boring, generic, sameness of the typical 21st century roadside experience, which has replaced style with monotony. Not just hotel signs either, but all signage. Have you seen Las Vegas lately? It looks a lot more like any other new urban environment than Las Vegas. It's just another symbol of the current American desire to replace individualism with conformity.

Number of Americans believing antisemitic stereotypes nearly doubled since 2019
timesofisrael.comPoll finds that 85% of people in US agree with at least one racist trope about Jews, while 20% believe at last six; 20% think Jews have 'too much power'
I have no respect, AT ALL, for the ADL - but the data is the data. I also don't believe that the "number" of Americans who believe antisemitic stereotypes has drastically risen, I think that most of these people already believed in the stereotypes, but feel much more comfortable publicly admitting it, which is, in some ways, far worse. The reason that being a Jew hater is so much more acceptable is that the left is race obsessed (even thought they laughably deny it), but consider Jews "white." So when it was good to be white, we weren't white (ask the Nazis), but now that being white is "bad," they deem us white, and apply every (imaginary) egregious facet of "whiteness" to Jews (and often greatly magnify those negative qualities).
Either way, there is ZERO doubt that antisemitism in America is drastically more common than anyone believed before.

I’ve ALWAYS thought that she is a complete fraud. He clearly meant that he wanted there to be some kind of violent reaction against Jews because of what one person, in his view, had done. Blaming all Jews for the actions of one Jew is antisemitic all by itself, no matter what her idiotic justification of his comments is.
